Without all the hype created by the media and marketers around the latest and greates color trends, manufacturers would be in trouble.

Nobody wants to re-paint and re-decorate their homes every year. Obviously, marketers cannot force us to go buy the new stuff, but they can make us want it - and that's a deal half done! They know most people's weak spot - the tendency to keep up with the Jones - and they are capitalizing on that.

It used to be that home painting and decorating color trends lasted for years. But now it feels like trendy colors become dated every couple of years. Well, that's the plan. Evil manipulation or business as usual? You decide.

The Bad
